Cyn-fyfyriwr yn rhagori wrth ddychwelyd i goginio ar y Great British Menu!

Mae cyn-fyfyriwr Lletygarwch ac Arlwyo o Goleg Menai sy'n ymroddedig i ddathlu cynnyrch Cymraeg ar ei fwydlenni wedi cael ei ddewis unwaith eto i gynrychioli Cymru yng nghystadleuaeth goginio boblogaidd y BBC, y 'Great British Menu'.

O'r holl gystadlaethau coginio sydd ar ein sgriniau, gellir dadlau mai'r Great British Menu yw'r orau un. Bob blwyddyn, bydd criw o gystadleuwyr, yn cynnwys cogyddion mwyaf cyffrous y wlad, yn cymryd rhan ac nid yw'r gyfres ddiweddaraf yn eithriad.

Yn cystadlu am yr eildro, mae Prif Gogydd a Chyfarwyddwr Bwyty'r Beach House, sydd wedi ennill seren Michelin, ar Benrhyn Gŵyr. Cychwynnodd Hywel ar ei siwrne yn adran Lletygarwch ac Arlwyo Coleg Menai ym Mangor, cyn mynd i weithio yn y Lanesborough Hotel yn Llundain. Ers hynny, mae wedi cyd-weithio â chogyddion amlwg, yn cynnwys Simon Radley yng ngwesty'r Grosvenor yng Nghaer, Shane Hughes yn Neuadd Ynyshir, Paul Heathcote ym Mwyty Longridge a Steven Smith yn Freemasons.

Ar y gyfres ddiwethaf, cynrychiolodd Hywel Gymru yn wythnos olaf y gystadleuaeth fel un o wyth yn y rownd derfynol, a gystadlodd i gael dysgl i'r wledd olaf.

Dechreuodd cyfres 2021 o Great British Menu neithiwr (dydd Mercher 24 Mawrth) ar BBC Dau. Bydd tair pennod yr wythnos am wyth wythnos, â phob gwres rhanbarthol, cyn wythnos y rowndiau terfynol sy'n gorffen gyda'r Wledd.

Rydym yn dymuno'r gorau i Hywel yn y gyfres ddiweddaraf!

Of all the cookery competitions on our screens, Great British Menu is arguably the crème de la crème. Every year, the series boasts a line-up of contestants comprising the nation's most exciting chefs, with the recent edition being no exception.

Competing for a second time, is Head Chef and Director at the Michelin-starred Beach House Restaurant on the Gower Peninsula, Hywel Griffith, who began his journey at Coleg Menai's Hospitality and Catering department in Bangor before heading to work at the Lanesborough Hotel in London. Since then, he has worked alongside prominent chefs including Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor, Shane Hughes at Ynyshir Hall, Paul Heathcote at Longridge Restaurant and Steven Smith at Freemasons.

On the last series, Hywel represented Wales in the final week of the competition as one of eight finalists, whom competed to get a dish to the final banquet.

The 2021 series of Great British Menu started last night (Wednesday 24 March) on BBC Two. There will be three episodes a week for eight weeks, covering each regional heat before the finals week culminating in the Banquet.

We wish Hywel all the best in the latest series!
