Myfyrwyr Glynllifon yn mwynhau taith maes i Goedwig Gwydir

Dysgodd myfyrwyr Coedwigaeth a Rheolaeth Cefn Gwlad Coleg Glynllifon am effaith hamdden ar goetir yn ystod taith maes ddiweddar i Goedwig Gwydir.

Tra’n ymweld â’r goedwig ger Betws y Coed, cerddodd y dysgwyr i fyny at Lyn Elsi, cyn astudio nodweddion hanesyddol y coetir, a thrafod sut mae hamdden wedi newid yr ardal, sy’n boblogaidd gyda thwristiaid, cerddwyr a beicwyr mynydd.

Roedd y daith hefyd yn gyfle gwych i fyfyrwyr ddod i adnabod ei gilydd, wedi i'r cyrsiau coedwigaeth amrywiol a gynigir gan y coleg fwynhau ton o boblogrwydd ar gyfer y flwyddyn academaidd hon.

Dywedodd Jeff Jones, Darlithydd mewn Coedwigaeth a Rheolaeth Cefn Gwlad yng Ngholeg Glynllifon: “Aethom â’r adran Goedwigaeth a Chefn Gwlad i gyd am dro i fyny at Lyn Elsi i dorri’r garw, er mwyn i fyfyrwyr y gwahanol gyrsiau ddod i adnabod ei gilydd.

Coleg Glynllifon’s Forestry and Countryside Management students learned about the impact of recreation on woodland during a recent field trip to the Gwydir Forest.

While visiting the forest near Betws y Coed, learners walked up to Llyn Elsi, studied historical features of the woodland, and discussed how recreation has changed the area, which is popular with tourists, hikers and mountain bikers.

The trip was also a great chance for students to get to know each other, with the various forestry courses offered by the college having enjoyed a surge in popularity for this academic year.

Jeff Jones, Lecturer in Forestry and Countryside Management at Coleg Glynllifon, said: “We took the whole Forestry and Countryside department to walk up to Llyn Elsi as an ice breaker for students to get to know each other across the different courses.

“Tra ar y daith buom yn trafod sut mae hamdden wedi effeithio ar y coetir o amgylch Betws y coed dros y blynyddoedd.

“Fe wnaethon ni edrych ar nodweddion hanesyddol fel waliau terfyn ac adfeilion bythynnod o fewn y coetir, gan ddangos y defnydd tir cyn plannu. I orffen fe wnaethon ni edrych ar hollt sychder o fewn clwstwr o goed ffynidwydd arian fel y bydd myfyrwyr yn gallu ei adnabod os ydyn nhw'n dod ar ei draws yn ystod eu gyrfa."

Mae Coleg Glynllifon yn goleg diwydiannau'r tir sydd â chyfleusterau preswyl, wedi'i leoli ar Stad Glynllifon ger Caernarfon.

Mae fferm Glynllifon, gan gynnwys y coetir, yn ymestyn i 300 hectar ac yn amgylchedd delfrydol ar gyfer rheolaeth cefn gwlad ac astudiaethau amaethyddol.

The Glynllifon farm, including the woodland, extends to 300 hectares and is an ideal environment for countryside management and agricultural studies.
