MEDAL AUR I KIERAN YN ROWND DERFYNOL Y GEMAU YSGOLION
Y penwythnos diwethaf, enillodd myfyriwr o Goleg Menai fedal aur yn rownd derfynol Gemau Ysgolion 2021.
Mae Kieran Jones yn dilyn y cwrs Hyfforddi ym maes Chwaraeon Lefel 3, a dydd Sadwrn 4 Medi roedd yn cynrychioli Cymru yn y gystadleuaeth Taflu Pwysau wrth Eistedd.
Cynhaliwyd rownd derfynol Gemau Ysgolion 2021 ym mhrifysgol Loughborough, lle'r oedd dros 1,300 o athletwyr ifanc yn cystadlu mewn deg camp wahanol.
Mae Kieran yn bara-athletwr llwyddiannus sydd wedi cystadlu mewn amrywiaeth eang o gystadlaethau lleol a chenedlaethol.
Dechreuodd Keiran gymryd rhan mewn chwaraeon anabledd pan ddechreuodd ei fywyd newid yn 13 oed.
Mae'n dioddef o HSP (hereditary spastic paraplegia), sef cyflwr etifeddol prin sy'n achosi gwendid cynyddol yng nghyhyrau'r cluniau a'r coesau. Mae ei dad, a'i frawd Ryan, mewn cadeiriau olwyn hefyd.
Ond nid yw wedi gadael i'w anabledd gyfyngu ar ei botensial a'i lwyddiant mewn chwaraeon ac athletau. Kieran oedd pencampwr Prydain ym mhencampwriaethau'r Activity Alliance National Junior Athletics yn 2019, ac mae hefyd wedi cynrychioli Cymru droeon mewn cystadlaethau Pêl-fasged Cadair Olwyn.
Meddai Kieran, "Ges i benwythnos gwerth chweil yn y Gemau Ysgolion, a dw i wrth fy modd 'mod i wedi ennill medal aur!
"Dyma'r tro cyntaf i mi gynrychioli Cymru mewn cystadleuaeth athletau gan 'mod i fel arfer yn cymryd rhan mewn cystadlaethau Pêl-fasged Cadair Olwyn. Fedra i ddim aros rŵan i gymryd rhan mewn cystadlaethau eraill!"

Kieran Jones, who studies Sport Coaching Level 3, was representing Wales in the Seated Shot Put event on Saturday (September 4th) where he came 1st place.
The School Games Final 2021 was held at Loughborough University, which saw more than 1,300 young athletes compete across ten different sports.
Kieran is a successful para-athlete who has competed in a wide range of national and regional sports competitions with great triumph.
His journey into disability sport began when Kieran was 13 years old and life began to change.
His condition - hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) – is a rare, inherited neurological disorder that produces progressive weakness in the hip and leg muscles. It runs through certain members of his family, meaning his younger brother Ryan is also in a chair as is their father.
However, he has not let his disability limit his potential and success in sports and athletics. Kieran became British champion at the Activity Alliance National Junior Athletics Championships in 2019, and has also represented Wales many times in Wheelchair Basketball competitions.
Kieran said, “I had a fantastic weekend at the School Games Finals, and I’m so pleased to have won Gold in my competition!”
“This was my first time representing Wales in Athletics as I usually take part in the Seated Basketball competitions. I can’t wait to participate in more competitions to come!”
