Heather a Morgandie yn hwylio i lwyddiant

Daeth y myfyrwyr peirianneg forol Heather Griffiths a Morgandie Harrold yn ail yn erbyn criwiau o bob rhan o’r DU yn ras flynyddol Clwb Hwylio De Sir Caernarfon.

Roedd y digwyddiad yn Abersoch yn cynnwys 10 rownd a gynhaliwyd dros bum diwrnod, gyda'r criwiau'n rasio llwybrau gwahanol bob dydd a oedd yn cymryd tua un awr i lywio.

Roedd Heather a Morgandie ynghyd â gweddill y criw, Peter Dunlop a Vicky Cox, yn rasio cwch hwylio'r Mojito Bach – cwch cynnal J70 6.24-metr o uchder wedi’i wneud o wydr ffibr, sydd â chilbren asgell.

Cawsant ddechrau gwych, gyda dwy fuddugoliaeth ar y diwrnod cyntaf ac yna dod yn ail a thrydydd dros y ddau ddiwrnod nesaf.

Dros y ddau ddiwrnod olaf daethant yn y pedwar uchaf ym mhob ras, gan felly sicrhau'r ail safle yn gyffredinol. Daeth y digwyddiad i ben gyda pharti cloi a cherddoriaeth fyw.

Marine engineering students Heather Griffiths and Morgandie Harrold finished second against crews from all over the UK in the annual South Caernarvonshire Yacht Club Race.

The event at Abersoch consisted of 10 rounds over five days, with the crews given different routes to race every day, each taking around an hour to navigate.

Along with crew-mates Peter Dunlop and Vicky Cox, Heather and Morgandie raced the Mojito Bach - a 6.24-metre J70 support boat manufactured from fibreglass, with a fin keel.

They got off to a great start, with two wins on day one followed by second-and third-placed finishes over the next two days.

Over the final two days they placed in the top four in each race, securing overall second spot, before the event ended with a closing party and live music.

Dywedodd Ellis Morey, arweinydd rhaglen cyrsiau Peirianneg Forol Lefel 2 a Lefel 3: “Da iawn ar gyflawniad anhygoel o ddod yn ail yn eich ras.

“Mae’n galonogol iawn gweld myfyrwyr brwdfrydig sy’n dilyn eu breuddwydion, ac yn gweithio’n galed tuag at eu nod o weithio yn y diwydiant morol yn y coleg a thu hwnt.”

Meddai'r darlithydd peirianneg Emlyn Evans: “Mae’r staff ar gampws Hafan yn falch iawn o lwyddiannau ein dysgwyr, boed yn gyflawniadau academaidd neu’n weithgareddau allgyrsiol yn y coleg neu du allan i'r coleg.

“Rydyn ni'n edrych ymlaen at rannu mwy o’u llwyddiannau yn y dyfodol agos. Da iawn Heather a Morgandie ar eich cyflawniadau a phob lwc gyda’ch astudiaethau Peirianneg Forol.”

Heather and Morgandie are studying the City & Guilds Level 2 course in Marine Engineering at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor’s Hafan campus in Pwllheli.
