Efa ar y trywydd cywir am yrfa ym maes chwaraeon moduro
Mae Efa Glyn Jones, sydd â diddordeb brwd mewn ralïo, yn paratoi i wireddu ei breuddwydion yn dilyn derbyn cynnig gan Brifysgol Abertawe i ddilyn cwrs Chwaraeon Moduro.
Enillodd Efa, o Borthmadog, deitl Myfyriwr Peirianneg y Flwyddyn Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor, ac mae'n argoeli y caiff ragoriaeth driphlyg ar ddiwedd ei chwrs BTEC Lefel 3 ym maes Peirianneg Cyffredinol Uwch.
Bu'r myfyriwr 18 oed yn astudio peirianneg am y ddwy flynedd ddiwethaf, gan rannu ei hamser rhwng campws CaMDA yn Nolgellau a champws Hafan ym Mhwllheli.
Fel dilynwr chwaraeon moduro eiddgar mae hi'n treulio ei hamser hamdden yn gweithio gyda pheirianwyr mewn ralïau yn gwasanaethu'r cerbydau. Adlewyrchwyd ei hangerdd at y gamp yn ei thraethawd estynedig Bagloriaeth Cymru, 'A oes angen achub ralïo yng y Deyrnas Unedig?'
Nawr mae ei huchelgais i weithio yn y diwydiant wedi cael hwb enfawr yn dilyn cynnig lle yn y brifysgol.
Dywedodd Efa: "Dwi wedi bod â diddordeb mewn chwaraeon moduro ers oedran ifanc iawn, ers yr adeg roedd fy mam yn mynd â fi i ddigwyddiadau ralïo ledled y wlad.
Rallying enthusiast Efa Glyn Jones is gearing up to pursue her dreams after receiving an offer from Swansea University to study Motorsport.
Efa, from Porthmadog, was named Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor’s engineering student of the year, and is on track for a triple distinction at the end of her BTEC Level 3 Enhanced General Engineering course.
The 18-year-old has been studying engineering for the past two years, sharing her time between the CaMDA and Hafan campuses in Dolgellau and Pwllheli respectively.
As a keen motorsport fan, in her spare time she works with engineers at rally events to service the vehicles, while her passion for the sport was reflected in her Welsh Baccalaureate dissertation, ‘Does rallying need saving in the UK?’
Now her ambitions of working in the industry have now been turbo-charged by the offer of a university place.
Efa said: “I have had a keen interest in motorsport from a very young age, ever since my mother took me to rallying events all over the country.

"Ar ôl astudio peirianneg yng nghampysau Dolgellau a Phwllheli Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor mae gen i ddealltwriaeth eang am bynciau peirianneg cyffredinol a datblygais fy hunan hyder i gymryd y cam nesaf yn fy addysg i arbenigo yn y diwydiant chwaraeon moduro.
"Hoffwn ddiolch i'r staff ar y ddau safle am eu cefnogaeth a'u hanogaeth yn ystod y ddwy flynedd ddiwethaf."
Cydnabuwyd gwaith caled a chyflawniadau Efa pan gafodd ei henwi yn Fyfyriwr Peirianneg y Flwyddyn yn seremoni wobrwyo myfyrwyr Addysg Bellach Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor, a gynhaliwyd ym Mhlas Tan y Bwlch ger Maentwrog ym mis Mehefin.
Dywedodd darlithydd Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor, Emlyn Evans: "Mae Efa yn ddysgwr ymroddgar ac yn gwneud ei gorau i gynhyrchu gwaith o ansawdd rhagorol, gan sicrhau'r graddau uchaf yn ei gwaith cwrs yn gyson.
"Mae peirianwyr bob amser yn ymdrechu i sicrhau perffeithrwydd, ac nid yw Efa yn eithriad i hyn. Mae hi wedi ymateb i'r holl adborth adeiladol gan ei thiwtoriaid i gynhyrchu aseiniadau ansawdd uchel yn rheolaidd ym mhob modiwl i gyrraedd ei gradd targed o ragoriaeth driphlyg yn ei chwrs BTEC Lefel 3 ym maes Peirianneg Cyffredinol Uwch, sy'n dasg anodd iawn.
"Mae Efa'n dewis herio ei hun yn ymarferol hefyd yn aml - un enghraifft oedd dylunio a chynhyrchu twnnel gwynt ar gyfer ei phrosiect peirianneg. Dyluniodd offer profi i ddangos y llif aer dros wrthrychau fel cymorth hyfforddi i gynorthwyo myfyrwyr i wneud llif aer yn weledol."
Ychwanegodd: "Mae gwaith caled, dyfalbarhad ac ymroddiad Efa wedi'i wobrwyo gyda chynnig lle gan Brifysgol Abertawe i ddilyn cwrs Chwaraeon Moduro'r flwyddyn nesaf. Mae'r staff yn bendant y bydd ei brwdfrydedd, ei phenderfynoldeb a'i hagwedd gadarnhaol at waith yn ei gwneud yn llwyddiannus yn unrhyw faes y penderfyna fynd iddo yn y dyfodol."

“After studying engineering at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor’s Dolgellau and Pwllheli campuses I have gained a broad knowledge of general engineering topics and developed my self-confidence further to take the next step in my education to specialise in the motorsport industry.
“I would like to thank the staff at both sites for their support and encouragement over the past two years.”
Efa’s hard work and outstanding academic accomplishments were recognised when she was named engineering student of the year at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor’s annual Further Education Achievers Awards ceremony, which was held at Plas Tan y Bwlch in Maentwrog last month.
Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor lecturer Emlyn Evans said: “A dedicated learner, Efa strives to do her best producing work to an outstanding quality, consistently achieving the highest grades in her coursework.
“Engineers are always striving for perfection and Efa is no exception. She has taken on constructive feedback from all her tutors to produce high quality assignments consistently in all modules to reach her target grade of triple distinction in the BTEC Level 3 Enhanced General Engineering course, which is an extremely difficult task to achieve.
“Efa often chooses to challenge herself practically too - one example being the design and manufacture of a wind tunnel for her engineering project, for which she has designed a test rig to demonstrate the airflow over objects as a training aid for students to help visualise airflow.”
He added: “Efa’s hard work, diligence and dedication has been rewarded with an offer from Swansea University to study Motorsport next year, the staff are sure that Efa’s drive, determination and positive work ethic will make her successful in whatever she decides to pursue in the future.”
