Myfyrwyr yn trwsio beiciau ar gyfer dysgwyr heb feic!
Mae 80 o fyfyrwyr o adran Sgiliau Byw'n Annibynnol Coleg Llandrillo wedi bod yn brysur yn trwsio beiciau a roddwyd i'r coleg fel y medran nhw a'u cyd-fyfyrwyr nad oes ganddyn nhw feic gael un a mwynhau beicio!
Mae'r dysgwyr - sydd ag anghenion dysgu ychwanegol - wedi treulio misoedd yn gweithio ar y prosiect atgyweirio ac adfer ar gampws Llandrillo-yn-Rhos, gan ddysgu'r sgiliau i drwsio a chynnal a chadw hen feiciau. Cafodd myfyrwyr Sgiliau Byw'n Annibynnol nad oedd ganddyn nhw feic y cynnig cyntaf i dderbyn un.
Cyfrannwyd 16 beic o wahanol ffynonellau: yn cynnwys beiciau mynydd, beiciau BMX a beiciau ffordd. Llwyddodd y myfyrwyr i lunio 12 beic gweithiol o'r 16 gwreiddiol.
Dywedodd eu tiwtor, Robin Murray: “Oherwydd y pandemig nid oedd y myfyrwyr yn medru gweithio ar unrhyw brosiectau allanol, felly bu'n rhaid i ni chwilio am brosiectau ar y campws, unrhyw beth nad oedd yn seiliedig yn yr ystafell ddosbarth.
“Mae’r myfyrwyr wedi bod yn arbennig o’r dechrau i’r diwedd. Bydd dysgu sgiliau bywyd fel y rhain - o ddefnyddio ystod o dŵls i newid teiar - yn werthfawr iawn iddyn nhw. Dim ond y dechrau yw hyn, gobeithio. Y bwriad yw mynd ymlaen i ailgylchu llawer mwy o feics."
Dywedodd Rheolwr y Maes Rhaglen Sgiliau Byw Annibynnol, Jane Myatt: "Rydym yn eithriadol o falch o'n myfyrwyr am eu gwaith caled yn ystod y prosiect. Mi wnaethon nhw fwynhau dysgu sut i drwsio a chynnal a chadw'r beiciau'n arw.”
Nawr mae'r myfyrwyr yn paratoi i symud ymlaen i'w heriau nesaf: cynllun Gwobr Dug Caeredin a dringo ar y Gogarth!

The learners involved - who all have additional learning needs - have spent months working on the ‘fix-it-up’ project at the Rhos-on-Sea campus, learning the skills to renovate and then maintain old bicycles. ILS students who didn’t have a bike were given first refusal.
Sixteen bikes were donated from various sources: from mountain bikes to BMX and road bikes. From the original sixteen, the students managed to make twelve good ones.
Tutor Robin Murray said: “Due to the pandemic, the students could no longer work on any external projects, so we had to look for ‘on-campus’ projects, anything that wasn’t classroom-based.
“The students have been amazing from start to finish. Learning life skills like these – from using a range of tools to changing a tyre - will be invaluable to the students. Hopefully this is just the start and we can go on to recycle many more bikes.”
Independent Living Skills programme area manager, Jane Myatt, said: “We are extremely proud of the students and all the hard work they have put in during the project. They really enjoyed learning how to repair and maintain the bikes.”
The students are now preparing to move on to their next challenges: the Duke of Edinburgh scheme and climbing on the Orme!
