Mae Bryn wedi hen arfer â llwyddiant. Yn ogystal ag ennill coron pencampwr Cymru dros ffos a pherth, daeth yn bedwerydd ym Mhencampwriaeth Rasys Traws Gwlad Athletau Cymru cyn y cyfnod clo cyntaf ac ennill lle i gynrychioli Cymru yn Mini Marathon Llundain. Yn anffodus cafodd y ras honno ei gohirio oherwydd y pandemig. Mae hefyd wedi cynrychioli Cymru ym mhencampwriaethau Prydain ac Iwerddon a Stirling Cross-challenge, yn ogystal ag ennill lle i gystadlu ym Mhencampwriaeth Prydain ar y ras ffordd 3 milltir o hyd.

Meddai Bryn: "Roeddwn i wrth fy modd i orffen ras o fewn yr amser gofynnol i ennill ysgoloriaeth i brifysgol yn America. Byddaf yn astudio un ai ffisioleg chwaraeon neu chwaraeon a'r amgylchedd. Dydw i heb benderfynu'n iawn ble bydda i'n mynd ond mae hi'n braf cael mwy nag un dewis."

"Rydw i'n mwynhau fy nghwrs coleg yn arw, dw i wastad wedi teimlo'n angerddol dros yr awyr agored. Rydw i wedi gwneud llawer o ffrindiau da ar y cwrs sy'n rhannu'r un diddordeb ym maes awyr agored hefyd."

Bryn Woodall from Llanfairfechan recently competed in a 5km race, and after a strong, well-paced performance, achieved the university scholarship qualifying time of 14 minutes and 45 seconds!

This impressive feat has already resulted in Bryn receiving a couple of offers already from universities in the north west region of America. He is currently a second-year Outdoor Education student at the college’s Rhos-on-Sea campus, studying on the Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sport and Outdoor Activities course.

Bryn is no stranger to success. As well as his being crowned Wales steeplechase champion, he also gained fourth place in the hotly-contested Welsh Athletics Cross-Country Championships just before the first lockdown, which saw him qualify to represent Wales in the London Mini Marathon, which was unfortunately postponed due to the pandemic. He has also represented Wales at the British & Irish Mountain Running Championships and in the Stirling Cross-Challenge, as well as qualifying for the British 3 miles Road Championships.

Bryn said: “I was delighted to gain the qualifying time for an American university scholarship. I will be studying either sports physiology or sport and environment. I have not fully decided which offer to accept yet, but it is nice to have several options.”

“I am really enjoying my college course, because I have always had a passion for the great outdoors. I have made many great friends on the course who share a passion for all things outdoors too.”
