Gwledd y Beatles ac Othelo i fyfyrwyr Lefel A

Yn ddiweddar aeth myfyrwyr Cerdd, Lefel A Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor safle Pwllheli ar drip addysgol i Lerpwl i ddysgu mwy am waith y Beatles a Shakespeare.

Ymwelodd y myfyrwyr amgueddfa enwog y Beatles Story Museum yn Noc Albert yn y ddinas, cyn symud ymlaen i theatr y Playhouse i weld cynhyrchiad diweddar o Othelo perfformiad, oedd yn ddehongliad modern o ddrama Shakespeare gan gwmni theatr Frantic Collective.

Dywedodd Angharad Roberts-Williams, myfyriwr Cerdd a Drama yng Ngholeg Meirion-Dwyfor.

“Roeddwn i'n hoffi cael cerdded trwy'r gwahanol leoliadau yn yr amgueddfa, fel y Cavern Club a'r Yellow Submarine. Roedd hi'n ddiddorol cael gweld yr offerynnau yr oedd y band wedi eu chwarae a dod i wybod mwy am aelodau'r band.”

“Roedd y ddrama'n wych, ac yn hollol wahanol i un rhywbeth yr oeddwn i wedi ei weld o’r blaen. Roeddwn i'n hoffi pan oedd y cast yn defnyddio'r bwrdd pwl a waliau symudol y set er mwyn cyfleu teimladau'r cymeriadau. Roedd y defnydd o gerddoriaeth yn effeithiol hefyd, roedd yn fodern ac yn cyd-fynd gyda'r digwyddiadau ar y llwyfan.”

Dywedodd Gwenno Pritchard, darlithydd Cerdd a Drama yng Ngholeg Meirion-Dwyfor.

“Mae’n hynod o bwysig ein bod ni’n cynnig cyfleoedd a phrofiadau tu allan i’r ystafell ddosbarth i’r myfyrwyr. Mae hynny’n rhan ganolog o ethos addysgol Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor, hynny yw, bod mynd a’n myfyrwyr allan i brofi celfyddyd yn rhan annatod o’r profiad o ddod yma i’r Coleg”

The students visited the world-famous Beatles Story Museum at the Albert Dock, before moving on to the Playhouse Theatre to see a production of Othello - a modern interpretation of Shakespeare's play by the Frantic Collective theatre company.

Angharad Roberts-Williams, Music and Drama student at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor said: “I liked being able to walk through the different locations within the museum, such as the Cavern Club and the Yellow Submarine. It was interesting to see the instruments the band had played and to find out more about the band members themselves.

"The play was also fantastic, and completely different to anything I had seen before. I liked it when the cast used the game board and the movable walls of the set to convey the feelings of the characters. The use of music was also effective: it was modern and matched the events happening on stage."

Gwenno Pritchard, Music and Drama lecturer at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor said: "It is extremely important that we offer opportunities and experiences outside the classroom to the students. This is a central part of the educational ethos of Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor.”
