Myfyrwyr Lefel A yn ymweld â Science Live yn Llundain.
Fe fu nifer o ddysgwyr Lefel A Cemeg, Bioleg a Seicoleg Safle Dolgellau a Phwllheli i Lundain yn ddiweddar i fynychu sioe "Science Live".
Mae “Science Live” yn ddigwyddiad sydd wedi ei gynllunio'n benodol ar gyfer myfyrwyr Lefel A Bioleg, Cemeg neu Ffiseg, ac yn digwydd unwaith pob blwyddyn. Nod y digwyddiad ydi i annog trafodaeth gan rhai o arbenigwyr mwyaf blaenllaw yn eu maes am y gwyddorau.
Dywedodd Catrin Angharad Roberts, Cydlynydd Lefel A a'r Fagloriaeth Gymraeg yng Ngholeg Meirion-Dwyfor.
“Mae rhoi’r math yma o gyfleoedd i’n myfyrwyr yn rhan ganolog o waith Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor. Pob blwyddyn mae ein myfyrwyr Lefel A yn derbyn graddau, sydd gyda’r gorau drwy’r holl wlad, gyda nifer yn mynd ymlaen i rai o Brifysgolion mwyaf blaenllaw'r DU.”
“Mae cynnig cyfleoedd i fynd i weld rhai o arbenigwyr mwyaf yn eu meysydd yn sicr o fod yn ffactor wrth i ni geisio herio ein myfyrwyr i anelu am ragoriaeth academaidd”
Yn ystod y digwyddiad, cafodd y myfyrwyr gyfle i glywed gan Yr Athro Jonathan Van-Tam, Dirprwy Brif Swyddog Iechyd Lloegr. Daeth Yr Athro Van-Tam yn wyneb cyfarwydd i filoedd ohonom yn ystod y pandemig diweddar.
Yn ychwanegol, cafwyd y cyfle i wrando ar yr Athro Alice Roberts, sydd hefyd yn wyneb cyfarwydd iawn drwy eu gwaith yn cyflwyno rhaglenni teledu am hanes ac archeoleg.
I orffen, cafwyd sgwrs hynod o ddifyr gan y meddyg enwog, Yr Athro Robert Winston, sydd wedi gweithio’n fwy na neb arall, i weld rhaglenni am feddygaeth a gwyddoniaeth ar y cyfryngau torfol yn ystod y 30 mlynedd diwethaf.
Mae'r gwyddonwyr hyn i gyd wedi eu dewis yn ofalus am eu gallu i gyfathrebu â myfyrwyr yr oedran hwn mewn ffordd uniongyrchol a chyffrous.

‘Science Live’ is an event specifically designed for A-level Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics students, and takes place once every year. The aim of the event is to encourage discussion, and is supported by some of the leading experts in their field.
Catrin Angharad Roberts, A-level and Welsh Baccalaureate Co-ordinator at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor said: “Providing our students with these kinds of opportunities is a central part of Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor's ethos. Every year our A-level students gain grades which are among the best throughout the country, with many going on to some of the UK's leading universities.
"Offering opportunities to go and see some of the leading names within the world of science is extremely important, as we try to challenge our students to aim for academic excellence."
During the event, the students had the opportunity to hear from Professor Jonathan Van-Tam, deputy chief medical officer for England. Professor Van-Tam became a familiar face to thousands of us during the recent pandemic.
In addition, there was the opportunity to attend a lecture by Professor Alice Roberts, who is also a very familiar face through her work presenting television programmes about history and archaeology.
To finish, there was an extremely informative talk by famous doctor Professor Robert Winston, who has been instrumental in increasing the coverage of medicine and science across the British media during the past 30 years.
All of the guest speakers were carefully selected for their ability to communicate with students of this age in a direct and exciting way.
