Cyn-fyfyriwr yn Sefydlu Busnes Coffi Newydd!

Mae un o gyn-fyfyrwyr Coleg Menai wedi lansio busnes coffi newydd yng Nghaernarfon.

Sefydlodd Ceurwyn Humphreys, o Flaenau Ffestiniog yn wreiddiol ond sydd bellach yn byw yng Nghaernarfon, fusnes 'Coffi Dre' gyda dau ffrind agos ym mis Medi.

Yn dilyn astudio Peirianneg Drydanol ac yna gwrs Cynhyrchu ar gyfer y Cyfryngau Darlledu yng Ngholeg Menai rhwng 2008 a 2012, bu Ceurwyn yn gweithio fel Peiriannydd Sain a Pheiriannydd Gweithrediadau i'r BBC yng Nghaerdydd a Bangor.

Lansiwyd y busnes 'Coffi Dre' ar ôl i Ceurwyn sylweddoli fod bwlch yn y farchnad yn nhref Caernarfon.

Menter rhostio a chyfuno coffi yw 'Coffi Dre', gyda diwylliant Caernarfon wrth graidd pwrpas y fenter. Lansiwyd y busnes ar 14 Medi, ar roedd y cyfuniad coffi cyntaf, 'Twtil', wedi gwerthu'n llwyr ar ôl pedwar diwrnod yn unig!

Mae Ceurwyn, a'i ddau ffrind a phartneriaid busnes, Haydn Riley-Walsh a Thomas Graham, wrthi'n gweddnewid trelar ceffylau yn siop goffi artisan symudol hefyd.

Dywedodd Ceurwyn,

"Mae lansio Coffi Dre wedi bod yn brofiad gwych. Rydym ni'n llawn cyffro i gwblhau gweddnewid y trelar a'r gobaith yw cyrraedd rhai marchnadoedd Nadolig yn ystod y misoedd nesaf!

"Rydym ni'n benderfynol o ddathlu Caernarfon a'i phobl gyda Choffi Dre. Mae defnyddio hen iaith y 'Cofi' i roi sylw i rai o'r geiriau ac ymadroddion lleol a ddefnyddir gan bobl Caernarfon yn rhywbeth sy'n hynod o bwysig i ni. Er enghraifft - y cod disgownt ar ein gwefan - 'giaman' - yw'r gair Cofi am 'gath'!"

Gobeithir y bydd Coffi Dre yn medru agor siop goffi a chyfleuster rhostio coffi yng nghanol tref Caernarfon yn y dyfodol.

Ceurwyn Humprheys, who is originally from Blaenau-Ffestiniog but now lives in Caernarfon, started ‘Coffi Dre’ with his two close friends in September.

Having studied Electronic Engineering and then Media Production at Coleg Menai between 2008 and 2012, Ceurwyn has since worked as a Sound Engineer and Operations Engineer for BBC in Cardiff and Bangor.

The business, ‘Coffi Dre’, was launched after Ceurwyn realised there was a gap in the market in the town of Caernarfon.

‘Coffi Dre’ is a blended coffee venture, with the culture of Caernarfon at the heart of its purpose. The business launched on September 14th, and sold out of its first blend ‘Twthill’ after just four days!

Ceurwyn, and his two friends and business partners, Haydn Riley-Walsh and Thomas Graham, are also in the process of refurbishing a horse box into a mobile artisan coffee shop.

Ceurwyn said,

“It has been a fantastic experience launching Coffi Dre, we can’t wait to complete the renovation of the horse box and hopefully make it to some Christmas markets over the next few months!”

“We are really determined to celebrate Caernarfon and its people with Coffi Dre. Using the old ‘Iaith y Cofi’ to bring back some recognition to the local words and phrases used by the people of Caernarfon is something really important to us. For example - a discount code on our website - ‘giaman’ - is Cofi for ‘cat’!”

It is hoped that ‘Coffi Dre’ will be able to open a roastery and coffee shop in Caernarfon town centre in the future.
