Grŵp Llandrillo Menai'n Dathlu ei Gyfraniad i Addysg Ddwyieithog yng Nghymru

Grŵp Llandrillo Menai yw'r darparwr addysg dwyieithog ôl-16 mwyaf yn y wlad, ac mae wedi bod yn allweddol i'r gwaith o lunio'r tirlun addysgol drwy ddatblygu a hyrwyddo amgylchedd dysgu dwyieithog. Mae mwyafrif y dysgwyr Cymraeg eu hiaith yn cwblhau eu hastudiaethau'n ddwyieithog, ac yn ystod 2022-23 darparodd GLlM 53,617 awr o addysg ddwyieithog.

Mae dros 14,000 o ddysgwyr Addysg Bellach wedi dilyn rhaglen Seren Iaith, sydd â’r nod o gynyddu defnydd cymdeithasol dysgwyr o’r Gymraeg, a chodi ymwybyddiaeth o’r Gymraeg fel sgìl yn y gweithle.

Mynegodd James Nelson, Uwch Gyfarwyddwr y Gwasanaethau Academaidd ymrwymiad Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, gan ddweud, “Rydym yn falch iawn o barhau i ddarparu addysg ddwyieithog o ansawdd uchel a chefnogi ymgyrch Llywodraeth Cymru i sicrhau miliwn o siaradwyr Cymraeg erbyn 2050. Mae'r pwyslais ar addysg ddwyieithog yn ganolog i'r hyn a wnawn, a mynegir hyn yn glir yn ein cynllun strategol lle'r ydym yn egluro sut y byddwn yn hyrwyddo’r Gymraeg ledled Cymru.”

The recent review of Grŵp Llandrillo Menai’s bilingual education showcases the significant contribution that the college group is making to improving and promoting the use of the Welsh language across Wales.

With a proud distinction of being the largest provider of post-16 bilingual education in the country, Grŵp Llandrillo Menai has been instrumental in shaping the educational landscape by developing and promoting a bilingual learning environment. The majority of Welsh speaking learners complete their studies bilingually, which resulted in GLLM delivering 53,617 hours of bilingual education during 2022-23.

Over 14,000 Further Education learners have followed the Seren Iaith programme, which aims to increase the social use of Welsh by learners, and raise awareness of Welsh as a skill in the workplace.

James Nelson, Executive Director of Academic Services, expressed Grŵp Llandrillo Menai’s commitment, saying, "We are delighted to continue providing high-quality bilingual education, which is supporting the Welsh Government's drive to 1 million Welsh speakers by 2050. Our focus on bilingual education is at the heart of what we do, and is made clear in our strategic plan where we explain how we will promote the Welsh language across Wales."

Mae'r Grŵp wedi arwain y gwaith o gynyddu addysg ddwyieithog trwy nifer o gynlluniau. Grŵp Llandrillo Menai yw’r coleg Addysg Bellach cyntaf yng Nghymru i gynnig cwrs Cymraeg dwys i staff, gan ei gwneud yn bosibl i addysgwyr gyflwyno eu gwersi’n ddwyieithog. Mae Grŵp Llandrillo Menai hefyd wedi datblygu ap 'Sgiliaith', sef dull arloesol o ddysgu'r iaith sy'n cyfoethogi profiad addysgol cyffredinol tiwtoriaid.

Trwy 'Sgiliaith', mae'r Grŵp wedi rhannu arfer da trwy weithio mewn partneriaeth â'r Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol i ddarparu rhaglenni hyfforddi ar draws y sector. Mae'r cydweithio hwn wedi galluogi staff o sefydliadau eraill i ddatblygu eu sgiliau er mwyn darparu gwersi dwyieithog ledled Cymru.

Tîm ‘Sgiliaith’ sydd wedi datblygu'r Rhaglen Datblygu Staff Genedlaethol, a hyd yma mae wedi darparu dros 250 o gyrsiau i 3,500 o staff addysgu ac asesu ledled Cymru rhwng 2020 a 2023. Mae 135 o staff addysgu ac asesu hefyd wedi cael eu mentora trwy gael arweiniad a chymorth mewn sefyllfaoedd dysgu go iawn i gynnwys y Gymraeg a dwyieithrwydd yn yr ystafell ddosbarth neu yn y gweithle.

Ychwanegodd James Nelson, “Trwy barhau i fuddsoddi yn ein darpariaeth ddwyieithog, a chefnogi staff addysgu ledled Cymru, credwn y bydd GLlM yn chwarae rhan ganolog yn y gwaith o gefnogi Llywodraeth Cymru i gyrraedd y targed o filiwn o siaradwyr Cymraeg erbyn 2050.”

The college group has led on increasing the amount of bilingual education through a number of initiatives. Grŵp Llandrillo Menai is the first Further Education college in Wales to offer an intensive Welsh course for staff, empowering educators to deliver their lessons bilingually.

Grŵp Llandrillo Menai has also developed an innovative ‘Sgiliaith’ app, which facilitates language learning and enhances the overall educational experience for tutors.

Through ‘Sgiliaith’, the college group has shared good practice by working in partnership with the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, to deliver training programmes across the sector. This collaboration has allowed staff from other institutions to enhance their skills to deliver bilingual education across Wales.

The ‘Sgiliaith’ team has developed a National Staff Development Programme, which has so far delivered over 250 courses to 3,500 teaching and assessing staff across Wales between 2020 and 2023. 135 teaching and assessing staff have also been mentored which enables them to access support in real life learning situations by offering them guidance and support to embed Welsh and bilingualism with learners in the classroom or workplace.

“We believe that through our continued investment in bilingual provision, and support offered to teaching staff across Wales, GLLM will play a pivotal role in supporting the Welsh Government to reach the target by 2050" stated James Nelson.
