Peirianwyr Morol yn Hwylio o Gwmpas Arfordir yr Alban
Yn ddiweddar, hwyliodd myfyrwyr Peirianneg Forol o Goleg Llandrillo o amgylch arfordir syfrdanol yr Alban, fel rhan o daith mewn partneriaeth ag ‘Ocean Youth Trust Scotland’.
Yn dilyn sesiwn gynefino a briffio diogelwch, cychwynnodd y 24 o fyfyrwyr a’u darlithwyr o'r coleg ar eu taith hwylio tri diwrnod o hyd, ynghyd â sgiperiaid a staff y llongau.
Gan lywio dau gwch; cwch hwylio 'BT Challenge Racing Yacht Venturer' 72 troedfedd a llongan hyfforddi pwrpasol 'Oyster' 70 troedfedd, gwnaethant hwylio i lawr afon Clyde ac ymweld â'r Largs, ynys Arran, tref hardd Tarbet, a hwylio i fyny'r Kyles Bute cul i Holylock.
Rhannwyd y myfyrwyr a'u darlithwyr yn ddwy 'wylfa' gylchredol, lle'r oedd hanner y criw yn gweithredu'r hwyliau ac yn mordwyo, tra bod yr hanner arall yn coginio prydau bwyd neu'n mwynhau'r daith.
Cafodd y dysgwyr gyfle i roi cynnig ar fordwyo, llywio a thrin yr hwyliau a'r winshis gyda chefnogaeth gan sgiperiaid y llongau.
Dywedodd Andy White, darlithydd Peirianneg Forol:
“Roedd y daith hon yn brofiad ardderchog i’n dysgwyr ddysgu sgiliau newydd a gwneud atgofion gwych, a chyflwynwyd tystysgrifau ‘Criw Cymwys RYA’ iddynt hefyd yn dilyn eu hamser ar y llongau”.
“Rwy’n hynod falch o’r dysgwyr, a greodd gymaint o argraff ar y staff gyda’u hagwedd broffesiynol a’r wybodaeth a enillwyd ar ein cwrs yng Ngholeg Llandrillo - cynigwyd lleoliadau a chyfleoedd eraill gyda’r sefydliad i sawl un ohonynt!”

Following an induction and safety briefing, the 24 students and their college lecturers set sail for their three-day voyage, along with the Skippers and on-board staff.
Having chartered two yachts; a 72 foot BT challenge Racing Yacht Venturer and a 70' Oyster Purpose built training ketch, they sailed down the river Clyde and visited Largs, the isle of Arran, the picturesque town of Tarbet, and sailed up the narrow Kyles of Bute to Holylock.
Students and their lecturers were split into two rotating 'watches', where half of the crew operated the sails and navigated, while the other half cooked meals or enjoyed the ride.
Learners got to try their hand at navigating, helm and handling the sails and winches with support from the Skippers onboard.
Andy White, Marine Engineering Lecturer, said,
“This trip was a fantastic experience for our learners to learn new skills and make great memories, and they were also presented with ‘RYA Competent Crew’ certificates following their time onboard the vessels”.
“I'm extremely proud of the learners, who impressed the staff so much with their professional attitude and knowledge gained on our course at Coleg Llandrillo - that many were offered placements and other opportunities with the organisation!”
“We’d like to thank Ocean Youth Trust Scotland, and we look forward to visiting them again very soon!”
