Dros 5 mil yn ymweld a marci Coleg Glynllifon…

Yn ystod y dydd, mi gafodd y cyhoedd gyfle i brofi gwaith a gweithgareddau sydd gan y coleg i’w gynnig, oedd yn cynnwys, creu bocsys adar gyda rhai o staff yr adran goedwigaeth, dysgu am anifeiliaid bychain y coleg gyda staff o’r adran gofal am anifeiliaid bychan a dysgu am rhai o anifeiliaid y fferm, oedd yn cynnwys Defaid Charmoise, Defaid Llyn, Geifr a Moch bach.

Uchafbwynt y diwrnod i lawer oedd y sioe cneifio, a gynhaliwyd drwy gydol y dydd gan aelodau staff y Coleg Ifan Jones ac Elfed Jackson.

Mae Ifan yn gneifiwr proffesiynol, sydd wedi gweithio ar draws y byd, ac yn gallu cneifio hyd at 300 o ddefaid pob dydd.

Mae Elfed ar y llaw arall yn aelod o dim cneifio traddodiadol Cymru ers 11 mlynedd, ac mae o'n cael ei gydnabod fel un o'r cneifwyr traddodiadol gorau yn yr holl fyd.

Dywedodd Rhodri Manod Owen, Rheolwr Fferm Glynllifon.

“Mi oedd cael dod yn ôl i’r Ŵyl Fwyd am y tro cyntaf mewn dwy flynedd yn brofiad gwych, ac mi roedd hi’n braf iawn cael croesawu’r cyhoedd i ddysgu am ein gwaith yn y coleg.”

Ychwanegodd

“Heb amheuaeth un o uchafbwyntiau’r dydd oedd sioe gneifio Ifan ac Elfed, y ddau yn weithwyr yma yn y coleg, ac yn arbenigwyr yn eu maes. Diolch i bawb am alw draw i’n gweld ni ar y dydd, a chofiwch fod gennym ddiwrnod agored ar ddydd Sadwrn. Mehefin 11 yn y coleg.”

During the day, members of the public got the opportunity to learn more about all aspects of life at the Glynllifon campus: they created bird boxes with some of the forestry staff, learnt about the college's small animals - with staff from the small animal care department – as well as some of the farm's larger animals, including both Charmoise and Llyn sheep, goats and pigs.

The highlight of the day for many was the shearing show, which was held throughout the day by college staff members Ifan Jones and Elfed Jackson.

Ifan is a professional shearer who has worked all over the world, and can shear up to 300 sheep in a day! Elfed on the other hand, has been a member of the Welsh shearing team for 11 years and is recognised as one of the best traditional shearers in the world.

Glynllifon farm manager Rhodri Manod Owen said: "Returning to the food festival for the first time in two years was a fantastic feeling. It was great to welcome the public and for them to learn about our work at the college.

“Without doubt, one of the highlights of the day was the shearing show by college employees Ifan and Elfed, who are both experts in their field. Thank you to everyone who came to see us on the day, and remember we have an open day on a Saturday June 11 at the college.”
