Myfyrwyr Gwasanaethau Cyhoeddus y Rhyl yn Helpu i Blannu Gwrychoedd
Mae myfyrwyr o gampws Coleg Llandrillo yn y Rhyl wedi bod yn helpu ceidwaid mewn gwarchodfa natur leol i glirio ardaloedd yn barod ar gyfer plannu tegeirianau ac ailffurfio gwrychoedd er mwyn gallu adeiladu nythod ar gyfer amrywiaeth eang o fywyd gwyllt.
Mae'r myfyrwyr Gwasanaethau Cyhoeddus Lefel 1 yn gwirfoddoli yng ngwarchodfa natur Pwll y Brickfield, sydd wedi'i leoli drws nesaf i gampws y Coleg yn y Rhyl. Yn ystod eu cyfnod yn gwirfoddoli, mae'r myfyrwyr EPIC wedi dysgu am bwysigrwydd bioamrywiaeth leol, cynaliadwyedd a mannau gwyrdd.
Mae’r rhaglen EPIC yn gynllun addysg amgen a gynigir mewn colegau ledled Sir Ddinbych, sy’n darparu cyfleoedd i fyfyrwyr Blwyddyn 11 ennill cymhwyster mewn maes pwnc penodol: Adeiladu, Cerbydau Modur, Amaethyddiaeth, Iechyd a Gofal Cymdeithasol, Trin Gwallt, TGCh ac ati. Byddai'r myfyrwyr hyn yn annhebygol o ennill eu TGAU yn yr ysgol am amrywiaeth o resymau.
Dywedodd Cara Baker, darlithydd Gwasanaethau Cyhoeddus: "Roedd hi'n hyfryd gweld cymaint o bobl ifanc yn gweithio er budd yr amgylchedd. Mae'r prosiect yn eu helpu i ennill oriau gwirfoddoli ar gyfer eu cwrs, wrth wneud cyfraniad i'r ardal leol ar yr un pryd. Ar ben hyn, maen nhw hefyd ar fin ennill eu gwobrau efydd Dug Caeredin. Mae pob un ohonynt wedi gweithio'n galed iawn ac maent yn gredyd i'r coleg."
Nid dyma'r tro cyntaf i fyfyrwyr o gampws y Coleg yn y Rhyl gefnogi'r agenda gwyrdd sydd ar dwf; ddwy flynedd yn ôl treuliodd bron i 100 o fyfyrwyr ddau ddiwrnod yn plannu dros 1,000 o goed yn y Rhyl a Phrestatyn.
Cynlluniwyd cyrsiau Coleg Llandrillo ym maes Gwasanaethau Cyhoeddus i'ch paratoi ar gyfer gweithio yn y Lluoedd Arfog, yr Heddlu, y Gwasanaeth Ambiwlans, y Gwasanaeth Tân, y Gwasanaeth Carchardai, sefydliadau cymunedol a sefydliadau eraill sy'n ymwneud â'r gwasanaethau brys.

The Level 1 Public Services students are volunteering at the Brickfield Pond nature reserve, which is located next to college’s Rhyl campus. During their time there, the EPIC students have learnt about the importance of local biodiversity, sustainability and green spaces.
The EPIC programme is an alternative education scheme offered in colleges across Denbighshire, which provides opportunities for Year 11 students to achieve a qualification in a specific subject area: Construction, Motor Vehicle, Agriculture, Health and Social Care, Hairdressing, ICT etc. These students would be unlikely to achieve their GCSEs in school for a variety of reasons.
Cara Baker, Public Services lecturer, said: “What a fantastic sight to see so many young people working for a better environment. This project is helping them gain voluntary hours for their course, whilst giving something back to the local area. On top of this, they are also set to achieve their bronze Duke of Edinburgh awards. They all worked really hard and are a credit to the college.”
This is not the first time that Rhyl College students have supported of the burgeoning green agenda, as two years ago, nearly 100 Coleg Llandrillo students from the Rhyl campus spent two days planting over 1,000 trees in Rhyl and Prestatyn.
The college’s Public Services’ courses are designed to prepare for employment in the armed forces, police,
ambulance service, fire service, prison service and other community and emergency service-related organisations.
