Myfyrwyr yn Adeiladu a Rasio Eu Cychod eu Hunain!
Yn ddiweddar, fel rhan o ddiwrnod ymweld â Chanolfan Conwy yn Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, rhoddodd myfyrwyr Peirianneg Forol eu cychod eu hunain ar brawf ar y Fenai.
Cafodd y myfyrwyr o Goleg Llandrillo, sy’n rhan o’r ddarpariaeth ysgolion 14-16 oed, rasio ei gilydd yn eu cychod padlo eu hunain. Yna cawsant gyflwyniad i gychod pŵer, gan ddysgu sut i yrru cwch yn ddiogel wrth symud mewn lle cyfyng, ac ar gyflymder.
O ddechrau'r prosiect, y myfyrwyr oedd yn arwain ym mhob agwedd o'r broses adeiladu. Gan weithio mewn timau, mae'r dysgwyr wedi dewis a pharatoi deunyddiau ac wedi gweithio gydag amrywiaeth o offer llaw a phŵer i adeiladu eu cychod i'r fanyleb dan sylw. I orffen, buont yn treulio amser yn sandio'r coed ac yn paentio'r cychod.
Dywedodd Gavin Jones, Rheolwr y Maes Rhaglen,
“Roedd y diwrnod yng Nghanolfan Conwy yn brofiad gwych i’n carfan 14-16 oed, roedd yn wirioneddol werth chweil gweld y dysgwyr yn ennyn brwdfrydedd ac ymgysylltu, yn dysgu sgiliau newydd ac yn gweithio fel tîm”.
Ychwanegodd,
“Mae’r Adran Peirianneg Forol ac Adeiladu Cychod yng Ngholeg Llandrillo yn cynnig ystod o gyrsiau wedi’u hariannu’n llawn, a all arwain at yrfaoedd gwych yn y diwydiant morol wrth i ni weithio mewn partneriaeth â chyflogwyr lleol a rhai mawr rhyngwladol. I gael rhagor o wybodaeth, ewch i'n gwefan, neu cysylltwch â ni!"

The Coleg Llandrillo students, which form part of the 14-16 year old schools provision, got to race each other in their own paddle boats, and were then given an introduction to powerboats, learning how to safely drive a boat both in close-quarter manoeuvring and at speed.
From the beginning of the project, the students took the lead in each aspect of the build process. Working in teams, the learners have selected and prepared materials and worked with a range of hand and power tools to build their boats to the desired specification. Finally, they spent time sanding down the wood and painting the boats to their liking.
Gavin Jones, Programme Area Manager, said,
"The day trip to the Conway Centre was a great experience for our 14-16 year old cohort, it was really rewarding to see learners getting enthused and engaged, learning new skills and working as a team”.
He added,
“The Marine Engineering and Boatbuilding Department at Coleg Llandrillo offers a range of fully-funded courses, which can lead to fantastic careers in the marine industry as we work in partnership with both major international and local employers.
