Ffilmiau gan fyfyrwyr i gael eu dangos ar y BBC ac S4C
Bydd dwy ffilm a grëwyd gan fyfyrwyr Coleg Menai yn cael eu dangos ar y teledu – gyda Ceri Bostock yn dychwelyd i'w hen goleg i gyfarwyddo un ohonynt.
Stori oruwchnaturiol am ddial a dryswch ynghylch digwyddiad annisgwyl yw testunau'r ffilmiau fydd yn cael eu dangos ar y BBC ac S4C.
Cafodd Carreg Gron a The Hunger Pang Gang eu ffilmio fel rhan o It’s My Shout – cynllun hyfforddi i bobl yng Nghymru sydd â diddordeb mewn cael profiad o'r diwydiant ffilmiau.
Myfyrwyr cyrsiau Celfyddydau Perfformio'r coleg yw cast y ddwy ffilm – tra bod dysgwyr eraill wedi bod yn rhan o ddylunio'r set, y gwaith sain a'r gwaith camera, a'r trin gwallt a'r coluro.
Ceri Bostock, cyn-fyfyriwr o Goleg Menai sydd ar fin ymddangos yn y ffilm Bolan's Shoes, oedd cyfarwyddwr The Hunger Pang Gang, a Sara Lloyd oedd yng nghadair y cyfarwyddwr ar gyfer Carreg Gron.
Mae Ceri wedi ymddangos ar Coronation Street ac Emmerdale, wedi cyflwyno Dwylo'r Enfys, sioe blant ar S4C a enillodd wobr BAFTA, ac yn ddiweddar wedi bod yn gyfarwyddwr cynorthwyol cyntaf ar y gyfres sebon Pobol y Cwm.
Cyfarwyddwr theatr ac actor o Borthaethwy yw Sara, ac mae hi wedi ymddangos yn Hinterland, Hearts of Gold a Bad Girls. Ar hyn o bryd mae hi'n cyfarwyddo addasiad Cymraeg o'r ddrama gomedi boblogaidd Fleabag yn Theatr Clwyd.
Cynhaliwyd y clyweliadau ar gyfer y ffilmiau'r mis diwethaf a gwnaeth myfyrwyr cyrsiau Lefel 2, 3 a 4 y Celfyddydau Perfformio argraff dda ar y ddau gyfarwyddwr, yn ogystal â myfyrwyr Lefel 2 a 3 y cwrs Cyfryngau Creadigol a oedd yn rhan o'r gwaith cynhyrchu.
Two films created by Coleg Menai students are to be televised - with Ceri Bostock returning to her former college to direct one of them.
A supernatural story of revenge and a dilemma over an unexpected delivery are the subjects of the films, which are set to be shown on BBC and S4C.
‘Carreg Gron’ and ‘The Hunger Pang Gang’ were filmed as part of It’s My Shout - a training scheme for people in Wales interested in gaining experience in the film industry.
Both films have a cast made up entirely of students on the college’s Performing Arts courses - while other learners were involved in sound, hair and makeup, camerawork and set design.
Ceri Bostock, a former Coleg Menai student who is set to appear in forthcoming film ‘Bolan’s Shoes’, was in the director’s chair for ‘The Hunger Pang Gang’, while Sara Lloyd called the shots on ‘Carreg Gron’.
Ceri has appeared in Coronation Street and Emmerdale, presented BAFTA-winning S4C children’s show Dwylo’r Enfys, and more recently has been first assistant director on S4C soap Pobol y Cwm.
Sara is a theatre director and actor from MenaI Bridge, and has appeared in Hinterland, Hearts of Gold and Bad Girls. She is currently in rehearsals directing a Welsh-language adaptation of hit comedy Fleabag at Theatr Clwyd.
Both directors were impressed with the students from the Levels 2, 3 and 4 Performing Arts courses who auditioned for roles in the Coleg Menai films last month, as well as the Levels 2 and 3 Creative Media students who were involved in production.

Meddai Ceri: “Mi wnes i wirioneddol fwynhau'r cwrs Celfyddydau Perfformio yng Ngholeg Menai, ac roedd yn hyfryd dod yn ôl gydag It’s My Shout.
“Ro'n i wrth fy modd yn gweithio gyda'r myfyrwyr ac mae'n wych bob Coleg Menai'n rhoi'r cyfle yma iddyn nhw. Bydd ganddyn nhw ddeunydd wedi'i ffilmio ar gyfer eu portffolios, a bydd yn rhoi hwb iddyn nhw ar ddechrau eu gyrfa.
“Mae'n wych eu bod yn cael profiad o fod ar set a gweld sut mae popeth yn dod at ei gilydd. Mae pawb dw i'n ei nabod sydd wedi dilyn y cwrs celfyddydau creadigol yn dweud mai drwy fod ar y set yn gwneud y gwaith rydych chi'n dysgu go iawn am y broses gynhyrchu.
“Mae'n sicr yn rhywbeth mae mawr angen amdano ac fe fanteisiodd y myfyrwyr i'r eithaf ar y profiad.”
Wrth ddisgrifio'r Hunger Pang Gang, meddai Ceri: “Mae'r ffilm am griw o fyfyrwyr sydd heb lawer o arian, maen nhw i gyd yn dlawd a does yna ddim llawer o fwyd yn y tŷ.
“Mae 'na fwyd yn cyrraedd, ond dydyn nhw ddim yn siŵr o ble mae o wedi dod. Mae'r gwahanol gymeriadau'n pendroni a ddylen nhw fwyta'r bwyd neu beidio.
Ceri said: “I really enjoyed the performing arts course at Coleg Menai, and it was lovely to go back there with It’s My Shout.
“I’ve loved working with the students, and it’s great that Coleg Menai is giving them this opportunity. They’re going to have footage for their showreel and it’s a kick-start for their career.
“It’s great to have the experience of being on set and seeing how it’s all put together. Everyone I know who has done a performing arts course says it’s not until you’ve done it and been on set that you learn so much more about the process of production.
“It’s definitely something that’s very much needed and the students really made the most of the opportunity.”
Describing ‘The Hunger Pang Gang’, Ceri said: “It’s about a crew of students who don’t have much money, they’re all poor and there’s not much food in the house.
“A delivery is made but they're not sure where the delivery has come from, and there’s a dilemma between the different characters whether they eat the food or not.

“Y myfyrwyr a'r actio oedd y flaenoriaeth i mi. Mi wnes i drio gwneud yn siŵr fod ganddyn nhw rywbeth roedden nhw'n fodlon arno ac yn gallu bod yn falch ohono. Roedd yna deimlad da ar y set ac roedd yn bwysig i mi fod pawb yn cyd-dynnu'n dda.”
Mae Sara'n disgrifio Carreg Gron fel stori oruwchnaturiol am ddial sy'n edrych ar y berthynas rhwng merched yn eu harddegau. I Siân, y prif gymeriad, “mae wynebu'r rhai sydd wedi bod yn ei bwlio yn galw am fwy o nerth nag roedd hi erioed wedi'i ddychmygu oedd ganddi.”
Meddai Sara: “Mae'r ffilm am fod yn 17 neu 18 oed, ac roedd hi'n braf iawn i mi gael bod yn ôl yn ffilmio lle'r oeddwn i'n byw pan o'n i'r oedran yna. Mi roedd yn fy atgoffa sut brofiad oedd bod yr oedran yna ac roedd yn wych gweld y myfyrwyr yn delio cystal â chael eu taflu i'w chanol hi.
“Roedd y myfyrwyr yn ardderchog. O ystyried pa mor ifanc ydyn nhw, roedd yr ymrwymiad wnaethon nhw ei ddangos a'u parodrwydd i weithio'n galed yn hollol wych.
“Mi wnaeth y myfyrwyr dylunio a'r holl griw gryn argraff arna i, yn enwedig pa mor barod oedden nhw i wneud rhywbeth hollol newydd.
“Roedd yr actorion yn ardderchog – dim ond pum actor oedd gen i i ddewis ohonyn nhw ar gyfer pum rhan, ac roedden nhw i gyd yn arbennig o dda.”
Cafodd Carreg Gron ei ffilmio yng Ngholeg Menai ym Mangor, mewn gwahanol leoliadau yn y ddinas, ac mewn stiwdios teledu yng Nghaernarfon a Biwmares. Bydd yn cael ei dangos ar S4C a Hansh.
“For me it was all about the students and the acting, that was my priority. I tried to make sure they’ve got something they’re happy with and can be proud of. There was a great vibe between them and for me it was important they bounced well off each other.”
‘Carreg Gron’ is described by Sara as “a supernatural story of revenge, which explores female teenage relationships”. For the protagonist Siân, “facing her bullies calls for a deeper power than she could ever have imagined possessing”.
Sara said: “The film is about being that age, 17 or 18, and it was really nice for me to be filming back home where I was when I was that age. It reminded me what it was like to be that age and it was great to see how well they coped with being thrown in at the deep end.
“The students were brilliant. Considering how young they are, the commitment they gave and how they threw themselves into it was great.
“I was really impressed with the design students, and the crew, how they threw themselves into doing something completely new.
“The actors were fantastic - I only had five actors to choose from and five parts and they were all really good.”
‘Carreg Gron’ was filmed at Coleg Menai in Bangor and around the city, and also at the ITV studios in Caernarfon and Beaumaris. It will be shown on S4C and Hansh.

Yn y gorffennol mae cast Gavin a Stacey wedi bod ymhlith y gwesteion, ac mewn un seremoni cafodd myfyriwr gynnig cyfle i weithio gyda Russell T Davies, cynhyrchydd Doctor Who.
Mae Coleg Menai wedi bod yn gweithio gyda It’s My Shout ers dros ddegawd, gan greu ffilm Gymraeg a ffilm Saesneg bob blwyddyn.
