Peirianwyr y Dyfodol ar y Cledrau
Yn ddiweddar, aeth myfyrwyr sy'n dilyn cyrsiau peirianneg ar gampws Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor ym Mhwllheli ar ymweliad i weithdy'r rheilffordd, Boston Lodge, prif weithdy Cwmni Rheilffyrdd Ffestiniog ac Eryri.
Yn ystod yr ymweliad, dangoswyd y gwaith peirianyddol mawr sy'n digwydd yn Boston Lodge, Porthmadog i ddisgyblion ysgol o Ysgol Eifionydd, Ysgol Glan y Môr ac Ysgol Botwnnog sy'n dilyn y cwrs Lefel 1 'Gwneud Gwaith Peirianneg'.
Manteisiodd myfyrwyr sy'n dilyn cyrsiau llawn amser Lefel 2 mewn Peirianneg a chyrsiau Lefel 3 mewn Peirianneg Forol yng Ngholeg Meirion-Dwyfor ar y cyfle i ymweld â'r gweithdy hefyd. Dangoswyd cwch rheilffordd i'r myfyrwyr, ac yna aethant ar daith hynod ddiddorol o amgylch y safle gyda rhai aelodau o staff i weld yr ystod eang o waith peirianyddol manwl a gyflawnir ar y safle.
Meddai Emlyn Evans, Darlithydd mewn Peirianneg yng Ngholeg Meirion-Dwyfor,
"Diolch i Erfyl a Dewi yn y Gweithdy Boston Works, a phob un o'r staff am y cyfle i weld gwaith bob dydd y gweithdy ym Mhorthmadog a'r adrannau Peirianneg, Arwyddion ac Isadeiledd sydd yn cadw'r rheilffordd i fynd yn hwylus".
"Edrychwn ymlaen at ein hymweliad nesaf!"
School pupils from Ysgol Eifionydd, Ysgol Glan Y Môr and Ysgol Botwnnog studying Level 1 ‘Performing Engineering Operations’, had first-hand experience of the heavy engineering work being undertaken by the staff at Boston Lodge in Porthmadog.
Full-time students studying Level 2 and level 3 Marine Engineering courses at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor also got the opportunity to visit the railway works. They were introduced to a rail boat, and the staff gave the students an interesting tour around the site to show the wide variety of precision engineering operations carried out at the site.
Emlyn Evans, Engineering Lecturer at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor, said,
"Thanks to Erfyl and Dewi at the Boston Works, and the many other staff members who showed us the workings of the workshop in Porthmadog and its divisions of Engineering, Signalling and Infrastructure who keep the railway in good working order. We look forward to returning again soon!"
